Drupalcon Copenhagen
I haven't had time to blog in a while. It's been a busy summer, what with trying to finish my masters and then breaking my ankle and ending up in hospital. However, the masters is now finally submitted and the cast is off. Whohoo! Yet, somehow in the middle of all of that, I found time to go to Drupalcon Copenhagen, and I'm so glad I do.
As always, it was a great conference. Unfortunately since I was still in a cast at that time, I ended up having a wheelchair for the entire week. It made some things easier (such as carrying bags), but obviously stairs were a completely different story. Let's just say I saw the inside of a lot of delivery elevators. :) However, I'd like to thank Isabella, Mortendk and the Bella Center staff for all their help. I also need to thank a whole bunch of people for pushing me around all week, including Conor, Alan, Sumit, Edward, John, Cormac and last, but certainly not least, my other half, Dermot.
For me some of the highlights of the conference were:
- Jeremy Keith's excellent presentation on HTML5
- Meeting fellow CivicActions peep Sumit Kataria, and also his session on "Developing Apps for iPhone / Android using Drupal as a base system"
- Jeff Miccolis's presentation on "For every site, a .make file"
- fooBar, where Drupallers hung out every night
- Oh yeah, and Awesomesauce!
There are quite a few sessions I wished I had got to, but unfortunately didn't, including Poul-Henning Kamp's presentation on Varnish, and Amitai Burstein's session on Organic Groups. Thankfully the videos will be online shortly, if they're not already, and now with the masters over I might actually have time to watch them!
Anyway, major kudos to Mortendk, Isabella and the rest of the Drupalcon Copenhagen team on hosting an absolutely great conference!
